For more than 30 years, the Durango Karate Club has been offering fun, practical, and affordable training in the Okinawan martial art of Shotokan Karate-dō to anyone interested in bettering their body and mind.
In the club format, all ages and skill levels train together, working individually and as a team on techniques (Kihon), forms (Kata), fighting strategies (Kumite), as well as traditional weapons. We also engage in strength and flexibility training, practice self-defense applications, and explore a variety of other martial arts styles.
Lead instructor Josh Overbay has instructed with the DKC for over 10 years. He is a 3rd-degree black belt in Shotokan and has trained in Taekwondo, Kung-fu, Brazilian Jiujitsu, and other styles.
